Pushing Through Sleepy
October 23rd, 2009

This is how I felt this morning. After a cup of coffee. Someone told me once that you should never say you feel tired or sick because it is generally unappealing and uninviting. Nevertheless, today I was very sleepy, more than a little moody, and just uninterested in doing anything I was supposed to be doing. The coffee alone was totally failing me.
When I’m bored at work, have nothing to do, and I’m incredibly tired, not falling asleep at my desk becomes pretty difficult. I often find myself surfing the internet or staring at the wall as my eyes begin to glaze over. I rarely think, “I should use this time to work on my personal development!” But that’s exactly what I should be doing.
Today, I was able to sneak in a binaural beat recording designed to enhance focus. It allowed me to think about my personal development because I did a short meditation while listening to it. It also took care of the energy lull. I was moving around pretty fast for the next few hours and felt very mentally alert. I think I might need to listen to this recording everyday, right when I come into work. Maybe one day it will even supplement my ritual cup of coffee. However, I can’t think about that now, because the thought of an absence of coffee makes me far too anxious.

Mirna,
Thank you so much! I’m having fun finding quotes and adding my own thoughts here and there. Mostly, I just hope people see something that inspires them to live better lives and feel better about themselves and the world.
Do you have any favorite books that have helped you throughout your life?
Best,
April
